Better Catholic

Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 11, 2026

This policy explains, clearly and honestly, what personal data Better Catholic collects, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and what your rights are. We take your privacy seriously.

Who we areData controller and contact

Better Catholic is a Catholic evangelization project publishing content at bettercatholic.org. We are the controller of your personal data — the one who decides how and why it is processed.

For any privacy question, or to exercise your rights, write to us at contato@bettercatholic.org.

What we collectPersonal data we process

We collect only the minimum needed to deliver what you asked for. Specifically:

  • Your email address, given voluntarily when you sign up to receive the book (PDF) and follow the series.

What forPurpose of processing

We use your email only to:

  • Deliver the book (the PDF) you requested when signing up; and
  • Let you know about new chapters of the series as they are published.

Legal basisWhy we may process it

The legal basis for processing your email is your consent: you give us the address freely when signing up, knowing what it will be used for. You can withdraw this consent at any time (see "Your rights" below).

CookiesCookies and advertising

Today we use a single functional cookie, strictly necessary for the site to work:

  • cm_locale — stores your language preference (Portuguese, English or Spanish) so the site opens in the language you chose. It is a functional cookie; it does not track you and is not used for advertising.

AdvertisingAdvertising (Google AdSense)

We are in the process of enabling Google AdSense on this site. Once active, Google and its partners may use cookies and identifiers to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can manage or opt out of ad personalization at ads.google.com/settings, and modern browsers let you block third-party cookies. No ads are served until this is active, and this policy will be updated the moment it goes live.

Affiliate linksAffiliate disclosure

Some pages on this site include affiliate links to products we genuinely recommend — for example, print editions of our own books on Amazon (we are participants in the Amazon Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon) and devotional items recommended via Shopee.

If you click one of these links and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission — at no extra cost to you. We only recommend what we actually use or genuinely believe in. These links do not set a tracking cookie of our own; what happens on the partner store follows that store's own privacy policy.

Who we share withData sharing

We do not sell your data and do not share it for third-party marketing. To operate the service, we use processors — for example, an email delivery service (Resend) that sends, on our behalf, the PDF delivery and new-chapter notices. These partners process data only on our instructions and only to operate the service.

The site may contain links to third-party services — for example, YouTube, where we publish our videos, and the affiliate stores mentioned above. Once you follow those links you are on an external platform with its own privacy policy. We do not control those services and recommend reading their policies.

How longRetention and security

We keep your email as long as you want to keep receiving the chapters of the series. If you unsubscribe or request deletion, we remove your address from our sending list, subject to any minimum period the law may require.

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data against unauthorized access, loss or misuse. No system is 100% infallible, but we handle your information carefully and with the minimum exposure possible.

Your rightsYour rights over your data

As the data subject, you have the right to:

  • Access — know what data we hold about you;
  • Correction — fix incomplete or outdated data;
  • Deletion — request that your data be erased;
  • Portability — receive your data in a usable format;
  • Withdraw consent — take back, at any time, the authorization you gave us;
  • One-click unsubscribe — every email we send carries an unsubscribe link; one click stops delivery.

ChangesChanges to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in the service or in applicable law. When we do, we update the "Last updated" date at the top of the page. If a change is material to your rights, we will do our best to also notify you by email.
